In order to strengthen the national defence education of students, enable them to personally feel the military life and further stimulate the patriotic enthusiasm of students, on 21st August, more than 400 teachers and students of our school visited and studied at a branch of the Anqing Detachment of the Armed Police to experience military life at zero distance.
To begin with, the students were excited to enter the army for the first time in that the army was full of mystery to them. Besides, in front of the military culture wall, the officers introduced the red history and culture to students, telling vivid stories of the relationship between the military and the people. Also, the students listened attentively with their pure and clear eyes full of adoration. Later on, the students were shown the living quarters of the officers where sharp ‘tofu blocks’ attracted students’ attention, because the officers’ quilts were neatly arranged. Therefore, students all showcased their admiration. In addition, in the library and activity rooms, students witnessed the cultural life of the barracks, which deepened their understanding of the barracks in the meantime. Furthermore, the officers brought a wonderful series of tactical performances for teachers and students, so that they could feel the strict discipline and iron will of the soldiers.
In conclusion, the officers taught students how to fold towels into pieces of ‘tofu block’, during which the students studied worked hard to follow suit. Thus, the small square towels were perfectly presented. More remarkably, this camp experience was quite meaningful for students, which gave them an ‘immersive’ national defence lesson, inspiring their patriotic feelings by experiencing the military’s strict discipline and rigorous work style.
